After completing an OJEU tender Abbey Security were selected to provide manned guarding at the new Waterfront building for UCS. This state of the art building is open 24/7 to staff and students by virtue of Abbey's presence. Two officers are always on duty who are fully trained on CCTV as well as standard guarding procedures, they are also first aiders, a requirement of UCS. Since taking up the appointment Abbey have shown themselves to be a very professional and proactive company whose staff attain high standards of competence at all times. In addition to the normal duties we have had two high profile visits, HRH Earl of Wessex and Gordon Brown have both visited the building at different times and Abbey have provided a team to supplement the local Police. On both occasions the Police as well as our own senior management have commended their performance. I would have no hesitation in recommending Abbey to any potential new client.

The decision to contract our site security needs were for numerous reasons some of which are given as follows:

 

• Having a reliable company to both lock up and open the buildings for staff ensuring the security of the site out of normal operating hours.
• Enable on site cover to deal with issues of unwanted visitors (including children looking to play in the school holidays), illegal use of the site for raves and eliminate any risk of potential theft.
• Peace of mind of a physical presence!

Security may seem an expensive and possibly a luxury particularly in these cost conscious times. When NO site security issues exist it's additionally tempting to look at cutting such a service. But one has to understand that security is a non-issue because of the consistently high quality services provided and for no other reason! The cost of hind sight is likely to be far more significant than the cost of paying for the reassurance and peace of mind that a trustworthy and professional security company like Abbey provide.
